Fiona MacDonald is from Arisaig, on the West coast of Scotland. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where she won many prizes and awards including the Wagner Society Bayreuth Bursary, Dame Eva Turner Scholarship , Blonde Award. RNCM Lieder Prize, and Vesty Award.
Operatic roles include the title role in Carmen for Civit Hills Opera, Susuki in Madam Butterfly for Columbia Artists American tour, Witch and Mother in Hansel and Gretel for Opera North, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro for Clonter Opera, Rossweisse in Walkure for Covent Garden Festival, and Mastersingers, Old Woman in Babette's Feast for The Royal Opera Covent Garden Lindbury Theatre, Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia for Cambridge University Operatic Society, Jezibaba in Rusalka for Stowe Opera and Azucena for Opus 1 Opera.
Oratorio includes Verdi Requiem, Messiah, Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle, as well as many Opera Gala concerts including Verdi Opera Gala at Glasgow City Halls, concerts in Zimbabwe and most recently a Remembrance Day concert in Whitehall, London with Tony Benn.
